▲Maasai :: Ancient tribe in nowhere land between Kenya and Tanzania

The Maasai are an ancient tribe of nomads cruising the nowhere land between Kenya and Tanzania. Nowadays the are forced to settle down by the kenyan government as it started selling Maasai land to private and commercial investors.

The Maasai now have to change their ancient way of life while settling down which of course yields more problems: The loss of their tradition brings frustration and thus alcohol addiction appears to be a serious issue. Also, they have to do farm works in the dry and dusty land where having drinking water is always a big concern.

I was happy to meet some Maasai people in Maasai Mara region and feel honored they invited me to become a tribe member by presenting me a set of their colourful traditional clothing, necklaces and a bracelet at the third day of our meeting - see last photo.
